Civic Theatre Newcastle is rolling out the welcome mat for Bangarra Dance Theatre, and trust me, this isn't just any night out. In this first-of-its-kind collaboration, M?ori choreographer Moss Te Ururangi Patterson joins forces with the ever-so-fabulous Bangarra alumna Deborah Brown to take us on an epic storytelling adventure. Brown carries the weight of her Wakaid Clan and Meriam heritage with pride while giving a cheeky nod to her Scottish roots—because why not? Meanwhile, Patterson brings his Ng?ti T?wharetoa vibe, claiming that home is like an ever-burning fire in his chest (no fire alarms needed, though). Together with the Bangarra dancers, they've got tales of resilience that stretch across Australia, the Torres Strait Islands, and beyond, reminding us all just how connected we really are.
